Casino is known as the Beef Capital of Australia due to the large centre of beef production. This aspect is celebrated each year during Beef Week.

Primex is the premier agricultural field days and largest commercial exhibition held at Casino in northern New South Wales, covering almost every aspect of primary industry in Australia. The attraction to Primex is its diversity of industry as one of the Australia's leading agricultural field days, incorporating the most comprehensive tractor and agricultural machinery exhibition held on the east coast. See more at www.primex.net.au

The township lies on the Richmond River, a popular spot for visitors due to its rapids, scenery and weirs, making it a fishing and water sport venue.

The district was first settled bytwo squatters in 1840 when they established Cassino Station. with its first inn being built in 1854. Education came to the town in 1857 when a private school was opened.

The town has a large number of parks and sporting facilities. The most notable of these is the Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetlands, found on the northen side of the town (see photgraph on right). Surrounding this wetlands area is a miniarture railway system that operates on a part time basis for locals and visitors alike.
