Kempsey is the heart of a vast tourist area. To the east are a wonderful assortment of beachside holiday communities, including Scotts Head, South West Rocks Crescent Head, Hat Head and Gladstone. During the holdiday seasons, thousands of people flock to these centres to enjoy the region. The area is also rich in history. Many historical buildings are to be found within Kempsey, whilst there are numerous drive to some truly historical communities in the area such as Gladstone and Bellbrook, the latter also being in the foothills of some great muntain country and the end of a scenic though very difficult tourist drive that starts at Wollomombi that winds through some of the most beautiful mountain scenery found in Australia. This particular drive should be only undertaken in good weather as the road is very narrow, very rough and quite winding though well worth the trip. The road is strictly off limits for caravans and trailers due to the nature of the road. Spend time in Kempsey in order to take in its wonderous beauty and the historical memories of early white settlement in Australia.
