The Manilla Shire is based in the town and covers an area of 2,258 Sq Km with a total population over 3,500. The Council Chambers are located in Manilla Street.

The town is adequateley serviced with filtered and flouridated water, sewerage, electricity, street lighting and a well maintained road system. This means the provision of most of the amenities required for modern community living.

Manilla, in addition to its fishing, is a good starting point for a number of activities.

Located in the area are two major water storage dams, Split Rock Dam and Keepit Dam. Both of these provide camping, water sports and fishing.

Study the local history by visiting Manilla Heritage Museum in the main street of town.

Visits to the local state forests and national parks is also a great pastime.
