The name Narrabri is believed to be an aboriginal word meaning forked waters There are a range of things to do when visiting the Narrabri region. It is an ideal abse to visit places to the east and west including the Mt Kaputar National Park which lies to the east of Narrabri (53Km). This is a vehicle only drive as the road is too narrow for caravans. To the west are tours of the cottonfields and the Pilliga State Forrest. The CSIRO Telescope is located 24Km to the west of Narrabri along with the popular Yarrie Lake, frequented by lovers of water sports Narrabri has added two more tourist attractions in recent times The Crossing Theatre, just up the street from the Cotton Centre, features the latest movies in its twin cinemas from Wednesday to Sunday and other entertaining International shows regularly in the 1000 seat auditorioum.
