Dunggir National Park is one of wide variations. The ridges are covered with Eucaluypt forests while down in the deep valleys the visitor will find wonderous rainforests/ The park is a haven for a number of threatened species which include Koalas, (Dunggir means koala in the language of the local Gumbaynggir people) Yellow Bellied Gliders and Powerful Owls.

The park has picnic areas and walking tracks but many of these are still under development. A wonderful view of the park can be seen from the Kosekai Lookout on Bowra Sugarloaf Mountain
