URALLA LOCAL HISTORY

This page is designed to provide space for people of the Community to provide local history information about their community and to provide links to relevant history sites related to this community. The management of this site realises that this list may not be complete.

Uralla's birth was solely because of Gold Mining. Gold was found 'in them there hills' and many people found their fortune at the Uralla Goldfields. Some historical landmarks such as the Round Woolshed can be found only a short drive from town

McCrossin's Mill - Uralla Museum has a good recordof the local history and well worth the visit.

Thunderbolt, the bushranger, that roamed the Uralla area during his time, is buried in Uralla, and along with a trip to McCrossin's Mill, can put you in the picture of just what people had to live through, when there is a bushranger on the loose! Visit the Thunderbolt gallery for more pictures
