RAILWAY INFORMATION

Local councils do have some information about communities located within their boundaries. You can access this information through the Local Council site through the link found on Local Information Section of this site.

Werris Creek is Australia's first railway town. Whilst in recent years the importance of the railway to the township has been considerably downgraded, it is still the major rail junction for the northern and northwestern parts of New South Wales and has an extremely large grain silo complex still in operation.

On the 1st October, 2005, Werris Creek opened the The Australian Railway Monument and Gallery One "Railway Journeys" Museum. The Railway Museum is open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm.

Werris Creek Railway Station and The Australian Railway Monument. This site gives you some insight into this monument that has been erected in Werris Creek.
