GRAVESEND Tourism

Gravesend is approximately 600km (via Tamworth and Bingara,), almost due north of Sydney.

Gravesend: 29 deg 35 min south 150 deg 20 min east

Its major industry is wheat with a large silo complex being based in the village.

There is an annual rodeo that swells the towns population with riders coming from all over Australia.


We have a great pub that serves meals every night except Monday and have pizzas on Sunday night. They also have live entertainment often , darts and karaoke nights. Rooms to let at a reasonable price and also cater for private functions.

There is a cafe open that has take away food like hamburgers etc they are open seven days a week.

We have a fishing club, sewing and quilting club meets every Tuesday at the RSL Hall, Garden club, Pony club, Playgroup, District Nurse and Primary School.

There is also the lovely river for fishing, fossicking , picnicking , camping and swimming.

There is a camping area at the local recreation ground.

We have a Rodeo once a year.

There is a Lookout that can see right through to Moree and surrounding districts.

There is a fish farm.

A post office has been established here since 1908 and services all the area for mail and bill paying facilities.

The old train tracks and train station site here date back to the beginning of the last century.

There is the old railway bridge at the river that was totally transported from England in 1902 and earlier.

There will be a museum here shortly made inside one of the old churches that grace the town. This is in the throes of being put together at the moment.

There are old graves outside of town for the grave enthusiast and also a couple in town that date right back.

Our town also boasts of Artists, Quilters, craftspeople, farmers, saddler, gardeners, builders, and other very talented people.
