Kentucky recently experienced snow falls in November! Children at Kentucky Public School had fun building snow men & throwing snowballs!
On November 11, 23 historical photographs of the early settlement years in Kentucky were hung in the Kentucky Memorial Hall. About 90 old & new residents attended the opening & had a community photo taken (available from photographer Michael Taylor for $15 (part proceeds to Kentucky Memorial Hall) call 02 67787214.)
Many old orcharding families were represented on the day, with people from other areas with connections to Kentucky making the effort to be there. Pictures included early photos of the Kentucky main street shops & buildings, railway, orchards, schools, recreation, churches & Italian POWs. Kentucky even had it's very own WW1 hero, Harry Freame, who's heroic deeds are well documented.
Kate Hedges and Kirsty Clayton coordinated the project, made possible by an ANZ Seeds of Renewal Grant, a project aimed at benefiting small communities. Dan Ward collated and organised the layout of the pictures, and they were expertly framed by Uralla Gallery Owner, Christine Ball.
(Christine Ball from Barking Dog Gallery, Co-ordinator Kate Hedges & her father Dan Ward)
The photos can be viewed at the local dances, or by appointment by calling Kate Hedges on 02 67787220 or Dan Ward 02 67787219 free of charge. Reprints of most photos are available from Christine Ball ph 02 6778 3800
