KENTUCKY Tourism

The village of Kentucky lies to the south of Uralla and to the north west of Walcha approximately 10Km off the New England Highway.

A former Soldier Settlement with hectares of rolling hills, trees, orchards & historic churches. Home to fine wool studs & stunning scenery, beautiful gardens & high country climate.

Take a drive through the lanes of Kentucky & adjoining Wollun & enjoy countryside where you can fully appreciate the seasons & cool climate

Reminiscent of England Kentucky has charming tree-lined lanes with glimpses of pretty houses & original soldier settlement cottages

We have beautiful country churches & a hall surrounded by daffodils in spring. A thriving & progressive school set in beautiful grounds. Lots of beautiful gardens, many of which are opened to the public through the open gardens & community fundraising schemes.

To really appreciate what the area has to offer, visit during cherry season for the most delicious cherries you’ll ever taste, bearing no comparison to the supermarket variety. Apples, pears & other stone fruit are available straight from the orchards during the season.

There is a wholesale herb processing plant selling top quality herbal products.

Continuing south to the Wollun area there is newly established vineyard producing a range of fortified wines

The Kentucky area has several prominent merino & fine wool studs.

The Kentucky Tree Nursery produces 100000 low cost trees & shrubs for farm planting. Set in the picturesque grounds of the Everleighs garden, local native flora is progagated in 90 cc Hiko cell trays as well as a line of hardy exotiv cypress & photinia.
