URBENVILLE LOCAL HISTORY

This page is designed to provide space for people of the Community to provide local history information about their community and to provide links to relevant history sites related to this community. The management of this site realises that this list may not be complete.

The site of Urbenville is situated about half way between the villages of Tooloom and Woodenbong. As William Urben could not get agreement as the the placement of a butter factory or who would contribute to costs, he built a factory at a creek crossing between the two towns! This site eventually became Urbenville after the townspeople voted and chose to remember William Urben. The original factory was on the now vacant corner next to the village hall.
